Honda CB400N/T/450DX External Pickup Exchange

Readings between the 2 wires (Light Blue to Brown within the 6 pin block connector in your stator harness) should be approximately 200 ohms, 1 wire to pickup casing 110 ohms, other wire to casing 90 ohms.

This refurbished twin pickup coil is available off the shelf on an exchange basis, if you do order please send us your old faulty coil unit to us. We will need to receive your faulty unit first before sending the refurbished unit to you. 

The External pickup has 2 functions, the first function is to set the initial ignition timing on engine startup until the motor reaches approximately 2000-2500rpm, once engine speed is increased over this speed the internal advancer takes over the ignition spark timing to increase the spark advance in relation to higher engine speed, when the engines reaches a much higher rpm the second pickup coil within the external pickup takes over and counteracts the signal from the internal advancer to prevent the ignition timing over advancing which can cause engine damage.
